TEN GUNS RECOVERED AS TWO BANDITS SURRENDER TO POLICE IN TIATY.
One gun has been recovered in Tiaty Sub county after two bandits surrendered to security officers amid the ongoing security operation in the area.
According to East Pokot Deputy County Commissioner Benson Karani, the two have been among other bandits who have been carrying out banditry activities in the most volatile parts of the county.

"This is in connection with the ongoing security operation in this area where the government has decided that they are going to mop out all illegal firearms which are in the hands of criminals in the sub county" he said.

He further added that he welcomes the move by the civilians to hand over the guns which will go a long way in improving the security situation in the country.

"I want to invite all the leaders so that they can talk to their people so that they can surrender the remaining firearms which are still in the wrong hands" he affirmed.

At the same time, he noted that it is regrettable that those who are still perpetrating acts of violence have caused alot of havoc and mystery in Baringo North and parts of Baringo South.

"The time has come where we will silence the gun and the only way out is to ensure that education is used as a tool of bringing to an end banditry" he said while noting that those who will willing fully surrender their guns will be given amnesty.

Tiaty MP William Kamket, expressed his joy that civilians who are still owning illegal firearms are surrendering on their own and that he is calling upon others to follow suit.

"This afternoon we are happy that some young men have taken the initiative of surrendering the firearms without being forced" said Kamket.

He added that he is not bothered by the politics being peddled around concerning the security operation in his sub county and that his only desire is to see peace reigning in the entire region.

This comes amid the ongoing security operation in the area to flush out bandits which has seen more than 20 firearms being recovered.
